Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr. Yogi Adithyanath, has launched another initiative for women in the state. However, it was announced officially by the UP Finance Minister, Mr. Suresh Khanna, in the 2021-22 Fiscal Year budget sessions. The scheme is named Mahila Samrthya Yojana UP ( उत्तर प्रदेश महिला सामर्थ्य योजना ), under which the government aims to make women self-reliant by creating employment opportunities to them. Launching the project, the CM has claimed that the Mahila Samarthya Yojana will raise the people's standard of living through Home and Cottage Industries. Moreover, the government has allotted Rupees 100 Crore for this scheme. This scheme is definitely as great initiation from the government because it empowers women and makes them self-sustainable in society.

- UP CM has recently launched the scheme Mahila Samarthya Yojana in the state.
- The main motive of launching this scheme is to empower the women in the state.
- Under this scheme, the government will create employment for the female population in the state.
- Rupees 1000 Crore has already been granted for implementing the UP Women Empowerment Scheme.
- In the first phase of the scheme, the government will install 200 Development Blocks.
- The established centers will aim to train, common production and processing, technical research, development, packaging, labeling, barcoding facilities, etc.
- As much as 90% of the expenditure for maintaining these centers will bear by the government.
Need for Mahila Samarthya Scheme UP
- At present, there are over 90 Lakh Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in the state.
- Around 80 Lakh of these are installed in micro-units operated under the Home and Cottage Industries.
- However, now, the government will prioritize the industries run by Women in the state.
Implementation of UP Mahila Samarthya Yojana 2021

- Mukhyamantri Samarthya Yojana will be operated in all 800 blocks of the state on a group approach basis.

Formation of Two-Tier Committees for UP Mahila Samarthya Scheme
Let us see the formation of Two-Tier Committees of the UP Mahila Samarthya Scheme launched by the UP State Government.
- The state government will form two-level committees at the state and district levels to implement this scheme.
- Moreover, the District committees formed will be chaired by District Magistrates and will work in coordination with the state-level steering committee to encourage women's employment in the state.
- The committees will define and guide qualified women's groups and organizations in each region.
- The state government will organise public awareness programs, advisory programs, orientation visits, seminars, workshops, and training programs to promote entrepreneurs/businesswomen.
